Biography
Nadia Maïzi is a specialist in the modelling, optimisation and prospective analysis of energy systems. She obtained her doctorate at Mines Paris – PSL in 1992 and holds a degree in civil engineering from the same institution (P85). Since May 2000, Nadia Maïzi has been head of the Centre for Applied Mathematics (CMA) of Mines Paris – PSL. Her activities encompass a range of projects combining research and teaching, focusing primarily on the development of models in the economic, energy and environmental sectors. In particular, she designed, in collaboration with her team, the TIMES model for European energy planning and the TIAM-FR model for a global application. Nadia Maïzi is co-director of the Prospective Modeling for sustainable development chair (Chaire MPDD). Since 2008, she has been representing France as a delegate to the ETSAP (Energy Technology System Analysis Program) under the umbrella of the IEAE (International Energy Agency). In addition, she has been leading the Mines Paris – PSL delegation for the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) since 2009. Finally, she is responsible for the academic management of the Advanced Master degree in energy system optimization (MS OSE) of Mines Paris – PSL. Nadia Maïzi is a lead author of the 6th IPCC Report, published in 2022. That same year, she became Director of The Transition Institute 1.5, a Mines Paris – PSL institute dedicated to the design of the transition and whose aim is to provide scientifically informed solutions to the major challenge of climate change, focusing on issues related to adaptation, mitigation, and biodiversity.
